Again…..people never fail to amaze me.
There is a fairly new show on called “The Doctors” – in Chicago it airs on channel 26 at 5:00pm. I only know this because it follows “The Peoples Court” which I like to catch if I get home on time. I’ve never seen the entire show, only a little here and there. So I guess the premise of the show is…..it’s like a talk show, with a few doctors, and a live audience, who ask medical or health related questions so they can be answered on the air and help make the whole world a healthier place!
The other day, as I was preparing dinner, I had it on. There was a victim, audience member on stage his bad breath. Dr. “I’m-on-TV” explained that often bad breath is caused by bacteria on the tongue. He pulled out a tongue scraper and a spray bottle of some kind of cleanser. This scraper was basically a strip of flexible plastic, about 5 or 6 inches long, with a “serrated” edge. It reminded me of one of those double handed saws that you see 2 guys using to cut down a tree with – know what I’m talking about?
So, this guy followed doctors orders and proceeded to open wide, stick his tongue out, spray, and then scrap with the miniature double-handled tree saw. As the doctors assistant held a little cup in front of his chin, all the antiseptic spray, mixed with saliva and tongue bacteria, plopped into the cup! (Yeah….wish I could do that on T.V.!)
So the doctor then boasted to the studio audience that they would each be getting their own tongue scrapper kit to take home! Yay!! They all applauded.
Um….most talk show hosts give out CD’s by the artist that appeared on their show, or a book by the author that was a guest…..hell, Oprah gave away cars! That’s something to cheer about……but tongue scrapers?
People never fail to amaze me!
