I prefer an alarm clock. Hundreds, probably thousands, of people received a wake up call from Mother Nature this morning at about 4:37 a.m. A 5.2 earthquake greeted the Midwest. Apparently the epicenter was in West Salem, Illinois, not far from Evansville, Indiana. Chicago is about 240 miles north of there, and many people felt it. Hard to believe the effects can travel that far. Some expert on the news this morning said it’s possible that it was felt in as many as 8 states. Wow. So far, there have been no reports of any people being hurt, just some property damage. Lots of claims of animals acting weird right before it happened. I’ve heard of that. Do they have a sixth sense?
Well, the good news, for me, is that my daughter does not live down there anymore. She lived in a small town not far from West Salem. By small town, I’m talking Mayberry USA; population around 800, and Walmart is the most hopping place in town, hey…it’s a 24 hour Walmart! Anyway, she moved back home to Chicago about 18 months ago. You know, Chicago where it’s safe!

I’m sorry the ground shook? I didn’t feel it! I couldn’t stay asleep at all but of course, the one time something cool happens at 4 am I’m passed out!
