Today is April 15th, tax day. I am proud to say I walked mine into the U.S. Post Office 3 whole days ago. Had I been getting a refund, I can assure you, they would have been walked in 3 whole months ago. But I was wondering….what happens if they are not sent in by the 15th? Or not at all? I’ve never not sent them, never sent them late. How long does it take before “they” know? How long does it take before you know that they know? Do you get an official letter in the mail stating, “To date, we have not received your returns. If you have already submitted them, kindly disregard this notice. Thank you and have a nice day!” -OR- Do they send you a nasty-gram taunting… “Aha….we haven’t received your returns! You are late – you are so busted! As of today’s date, your penalty is $xx.xx, (ha ha!), and you will be charged an additional $xx.xx per day until you get it together and send them in.” Just wondering….can’t control what thoughts pop into my head.
